C12 - 12' Catboat from Bateau.com

Here is a model I made of my C12 from the 1:12 scale plans after I completed the full sized version. I used some 1/64" balsa and 1/32" birch to construct it, mostly following the same nesting pattern of my plans. The balsa was used for the hull and the birch was used for all the parts.

I have the hull taped up here so I can epoxy the inside joints without leaking.

Here it is epoxied on the inside with all the components to be used later, except spars.

I made this rough cutout of the centerboard slot using the sanding wheel on my scrollsaw. It's harder than you think to make powertool cuts on 1:12 scale. They don't make a skillsaw that small!

A shot of the mast step befroe the hole is drilled in it to receive the mast.

Centerboard components before assembly. Following the scale plans gave me a CB box that was not tall enough to be flush with the seat top as you will see next.

The center seat went right across the CB box without even touching it. You probably wouldn't know if you hadn't already built this boat. Notice my CB box is crooked due to the jagged hole I cut for it on my scrollsaw sander.

Detail of the mast partner, cleat, and bow pulley. This hardware was constructed from some stiff stainless steel wire.

Pintles and gudgeons made the same way. The angle isn't right, so my rudder leans back too far and I don't think I can bend the wire now that it is glued into the rudder. It may have to stay that way.
